What SandFest Is

SandFest brings together professional sand sculptors competing in solo and duo categories, alongside amateur competitions, sand-sculpting lessons, vendor booths, food trucks, and live music. The festival site occupies a stretch of Port Aransas beach near the main beach access, and the finished sculptures remain on display through the weekend until they're returned to the beach.

It's a daytime event, family-friendly, outdoors, and built around the sculptures themselves. Bring sun protection, comfortable shoes for sand walking, and a camera.

More Than a Festival — The SandFest Mission

SandFest is a sandcastle contest with a purpose: giving back to Port Aransas. Behind the world-class sculptures is a mission to raise money for local scholarships and nonprofits — and as the festival approaches its 30th anniversary in 2027, the numbers tell the story. In 2026 alone, SandFest awarded $259,500 in scholarships to local students, bringing its total to nearly $1.7 million for area students since 2012. On top of that, it has contributed more than $3.7 million back into the community, funding the 501(c)(3) nonprofits and local initiatives that keep the island strong. So when you buy a ticket, you're not just watching master sculptors at work — you're helping send Port A kids to college.
